1954

1954

September 6, 2020 by Marc

Packing Shed’s first foray into radio podcasting.

This series re-imagines George Orwell’s 1984 taking its inspiration from the line in the original book where Winston Smith recalls “perhaps it was the time when the atomic bomb had fallen on Colchester.”

Set thirty years previously we follow the events that lead up to that catastrophic event and then the dystopian nightmare that becomes Big Brother.

This is part of the Essex Book Festival marking the 70th anniversary of George Orwell’s death and 100 years since Marconi’s first radio broadcast in Chelmsford.
